Homebound is a game that tells the story of a cat who has lost their way in the city and must traverse through various environments in order to make it back home.
The player will play as a cat in a 2D platformer, which will show the background of the city-to-home environments where the player will encounter obstacles.

Objects such as fences, bushes, and public trashcans will act as barriers, whereas windowsills, stair steps, and boxes will act as platforms.
This will fit with the seed of running, being lost, and being a 2D game since the cat will be moving linearly from left to right, seeing and interacting with their surroundings by running and jumping over obstacles.
As the levels progress, the futuristic, bright city background will slowly shift into a cozy, warm cottage-side one.

The cat that the player will be playing as is a black cat with distinct white eyes. The scenery will be semi-realistic but also a bit cartoon-like and colorful to match the cuteness of and contrast with the style and the dark color scheme of the cat, respectively.
